I had the privilege of presenting our Toe-walking research in the, 'Best of Foot and Ankle' session at this year's European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society Congress in Seville.
In front of a respected audience of colleagues from across Europe, I highlighted controversies in the management of this ubiquitous condition as well as results from our institution in Oxford. Our results showed greater improvements of ankle range of motion after surgery compared to casting with a more durable result and no significant complications.
Interventions for this condition are still debated and we would always recommend a shared decision making approach as well as following the consensus guidelines from the British Society of Children's Orthopaedic Surgeons that I helped compile. https://www.bscos.org.uk/Portals/0/assets/Consensus/0301-620X.106B10.BJJ-2024-0466.R1.pdf?ver=-2lJOB2Y24uPz6aMbc7yGw%3D%3D
